Vin Diesel suggests a Last Witch Hunter sequel is really happening

On Friday, August 29, Vin Diesel posted on Instagram a photo of himself bearded, as Kaulder from The Last Witch Hunter, as well as his hand grasping a sword. The caption reads: “Summer 2025 has been quite productive… Kaulder!”

As of this writing, The Last Witch Hunter sequel has not been publicly announced. Well, at least by people who are not Vin Diesel. As far back as 2015, Diesel suggested on Facebook that a sequel was happening. In 2020, he claimed Lionsgate was set to begin work on The Last Witch Hunter 2. And even in February 2024, Diesel posted on Instagram that he “Can’t wait until you see where the immortal goes next,” implying that the sequel could become a reality.

With his latest Instagram post, it seems like Diesel is saying The Last Witch Hunter 2 is right around the corner.

Diesel is a massive fan ofthe role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons. And the character of Kaulder in The Last Witch Hunter is based on a character named Melkor, who Diesel created for D&D campaigns. Essentially, The Last Witch Hunter is a kind of live-action role-playing movie for Diesel, which is also based on his own fantasy fan fiction.

The premise of the movie is basically that Kaulder is an immortal “witch hunter” who has to battle the forces of darkness (specifically a plague) throughout the centuries. Michael Caine starred alongside Diesel in the movie and later mentioned that he thought of Diesel as “my son.”

Could Kaulder really return to the big (or small) screen? Diesel is famous for dropping cryptic hints on his Instagram account, so who knows how close we are to this becoming a reality. But Diesel did say “productive,” so maybe that means that this immortal saga isn’t dead after all.

The Last Witch Hunter streams on Netflix.
