11-hour water shutdown to impact Cape Town areas on Tuesday

Scheduled maintenance in parts of Cape Town is expected to result in temporary water supply interruptions.

The maintenance work will be conducted from Tuesday, 27 January.

CAPE TOWN CONFIRMS 11-HOUR WATER SHUTDOWN

The City of Cape Town said planned maintenance work will result in water supply disruption to these areas:

Part of Wynberg – The water and sanitation directorate will temporarily shut off the water supply to part of Wynberg from 08:30 until 19:30 on Tuesday, 27 January.

This shut-off will enable the maintenance team to safely connect the newly installed pipelines at the intersections of Bower Road and Silverlea Road, Orient Road and Silverlea Road, and Wellington Avenue and Silverlea Road in Wynberg. These roads and possibly surrounding roads will experience no water during this period.

Part of Maitland – Similarly, water supply will be temporarily shut off in Voortrekker Road between Koeberg Road and Camp Road and possibly surrounding streets in Maitland, from 09:00 until 18:00 on Tuesday, 27 January.

Part of Rondebosch – Water supply to Rusacre Road, Stuart Road, and possibly surrounding streets between Kromboom Road and Avenue De Mist in Rondebosch will be temporarily shut off from 09:00 until 18:00 on Wednesday, 28 January.

Part of Gardens – The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will temporarily shut off the water supply in parts of the city to allow for essential maintenance work. Water will be interrupted along Trek Road and Higgo Road, between Glencoe Road West and Higgo Crescent, as well as possibly surrounding streets, from 09:00 to 18:00 on Tuesday, 27 January.

A separate shutdown will affect Somerseat Close and potentially nearby roads in Gardens from 09:00 to 18:00 on Thursday, 29 January.

The municipality said the shutdowns are necessary to safely connect newly installed pipelines to the existing water supply network, and affected areas will have no water during these periods.
