A nationwide recall is underway on nearly 128,000 pounds of pulled pork sandwiches.
On Monday, the E.A. Sween Company of Eden Prairie, Minnesota announced it was recalling approximately 127,887 pounds of a pulled sandwich product. The product under scrutiny is the company’s 5.5-oz. Deli Express BBQ Pulled Pork sandwiches on sesame seed buns. You can find images of the sandwiches here.
The reason for the notice is potential plastic contamination, according to joint press releases by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
“The problem was discovered after the establishment received multiple complaints from consumers finding pieces of plastic in the barbecue pulled pork sandwich product,” the USDA release reads. “E.A. Sween Company determined that the plastic originated from the gallon plastic barbecue bottles used in production.”
What to know
The Deli Express pulled pork sandwiches were available for purchase throughout the continental United States, Hawaii and Guam between January 16 and October 23, 2025. The items were shipped to retailers nationwide, as well as the Department of Defense.
All of the products have the establishment number “EST. 2451” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Retailers have been instructed to remove the sandwiches from their shelves and inventory immediately.
What to do if you purchased this product
The good news is that there have been no confirmed reports of illness or injury after consuming one of these products.
However, if you have any of the sandwiches covered under this recall, health officials advise you to dispose of them or return to the place of purchase as soon as possible.
“Consumers and members of the media with questions about the recall can contact the E.A. Sween Company Customer Service Hotline at 1-800-328-8184 and select option #2,” the notice reads.
