The governor of Sonora, Alfonso Durazo, revealed that the explosion in a Waldo’s store in the center of Hermosillo left 23 dead and 11 injured.
Through a video posted on his social networks, the governor reported the preliminary balance left by the explosion, which led to a fire, in the shopping center located on Doctor Noriega Street.
He highlighted that the injured people are being treated in different hospitals in the city and that “unfortunately, minors are among the victims.”
Likewise, Alfonso Durazo expressed his deep solidarity, support and closeness to the victims and their families. In addition, he instructed all state agencies to provide comprehensive support, medical, psychological and social care.
“No one will face this pain alone,” he declared.
On the other hand, he explained that from the first moments the emergency bodies acted with professionalism and commitment, controlling the situation and saving lives.
“I recognize and deeply appreciate your dedication and courage,” reiterated the state governor.
In addition, Alfonso Durazo ordered “an exhaustive and transparent investigation to clarify the causes of the incident and determine the corresponding responsibilities. We will do it seriously, truthfully and with justice. In Sonora the life and safety of our people are and will continue to be an absolute priority.”
“To the families who suffer today, he reiterated that they are not alone. They have the support of the state government and the solidarity of all Sonorans,” added the state governor.
