Despite global uncertainties caused by tariffs and fluctuating demand, the company remains optimistic. The US conglomerate 3M has once again revised its profit forecast upwards for the current year. After the annual forecast was increased in July, CEO William Brown has now set expectations even higher. For 2025, adjusted earnings per share are expected to be $7.95 to $8.05, up from the previous forecast of $7.75 to $8.00.
Third quarter results exceeded analysts’ expectations. Sales rose by 3.5 percent to 6.5 billion US dollars, which corresponds to around 5.6 billion euros. However, adjusted for exchange rate and portfolio effects, growth was somewhat weaker. Adjusted earnings per share increased by 10 percent to $2.19.
Investors reacted positively to the news, reflected in a 4.5 percent rise in 3M shares in early New York trading. CEO Brown said he was pleased with the teams’ focus on reviving organic sales growth and improving operational performance, which led to another strong quarter.
Since taking office last year, Brown has subjected the group to a comprehensive restructuring. Despite global challenges such as tariffs and fluctuating demand, his plan appears to be working. Measures included new product introductions, production relocation and price changes to address market challenges.
