Government of Puebla launches alert for intense rains over the weekend

In the process of rebuilding the damage caused by the torrential rains that hit states such as Veracruz, Hidalgo, San Luis Potosí and Pueblathe latter’s government launched a alert to warn the population of the rains that are expected for the weekend.

According to a social media post, Civil defense of the state of Puebla reported that intense rains are expected from October 18 to 20mainly in the Sierras Norte, Northeastern, Negra, Valle Serdán, Mixteca and Angelópolis.

Therefore, they asked the population to take precautions and follow a series of measures to prevent any type of contingency derived from precipitation.

Among the indications of Civil Protection highlight:

• Do not travel through gaps or rural roads during the rains.
• Do not cross rivers, streams or low areas; look for alternative routes.
• Stay away from walls, trees and cables at risk of falling.
• Do not throw garbage on the street or in sewers.
• Report leaning trees or poles to your local authority.
• Identify temporary shelters.
• If you drive, do so with caution.
• Put together an emergency backpack and make a family civil protection plan.

Likewise, the General Coordination of Civil Protection and Risk Management urged municipal authorities and citizens to activate your local emergency protocols and stay informed through official channels.

Although it was not the state most affected by the rains that left Poza Rica or Álamo in Veracruz under water, it was one of the states that suffered at least 19 human losses and extensive damage such as bridge collapses, which is why the federal governments maintain support brigades in the entity.
