The Venustiano Carranza Mayor’s Office collected little more than 40 tons of food through the collection center enabled by the Mayor Evelyn Parrain coordination with Civil Protection, on the esplanade of the Mayor’s Office to support the families affected in Hidalgo, Puebla and Veracruz due to the heavy rains caused by Storm Jerry.
Non-perishable food, personal hygiene items, clothing, basic medications, bottled water, blankets, mattresses, cleaning products and pet food were collected, as well as candy for the children. Everything gathered was classified and is being delivered directly into the hands of the families who need it most, prioritizing immediate attention to the most affected municipalities.
The collection was possible thanks to the combined efforts of workers, neighbors, merchants and elements of the territorial coordination, who came with donations in a sample of what the government of Venustiano Carranza and citizen participation in emergency situations.
Mayor Parra Álvarez expressed her gratitude to her work team and the inhabitants of Venustiano Carranza for their generous response, which made it possible to gather all this help and stressed that empathy and solidarity action are constant values in her government.
This day is added to the actions that Mayor Evelyn Parra has promoted in response to various emergencies, such as the shipment of 40 tons of food after Hurricane Otis in Acapulco in 2023; the deployment of brigades and water pipes for Hurricane John in Guerrero and Oaxaca in 2024; and the delivery in July of more than 23 tons of basic supplies for families affected by the Erick phenomenon in Oaxaca.
