A medical source at the Baptist Hospital reported that 3 Palestinians were killed by Israeli occupation army gunfire as they returned to inspect their homes in the Al-Shaaf area in the Al-Tuffah neighborhood, east of Gaza City, in a clear Israeli violation of the ceasefire agreement and ending the war in the Strip, at a time when the occupation opened the Kerem Shalom and Kissufim crossings.
For its part, the Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip confirmed that the Israeli occupation forces violated the ceasefire by bombing areas in the center of the Strip, Khan Yunis, and Rafah.
He added that civil defense teams monitored the occupation deliberately targeting schools housing displaced people, which exacerbates the humanitarian conditions in the Strip.
In this context, Al Awda Hospital announced that it received, during the past 24 hours, 24 martyrs and 74 injured, as a result of the Israeli occupation aircraft’s bombing of camps in the central Gaza Strip, in clear violation of the ceasefire agreement.
Discussions and justifications
Palestinian sources confirmed to Al Jazeera that the mediators’ contacts succeeded yesterday in returning the situation in Gaza to the ceasefire agreement, and added that there are ongoing discussions to establish a binding mechanism to address any future violations in the Gaza Strip.
For its part, the Israeli occupation army stated that our forces are deployed in accordance with the ceasefire agreement, and will continue to deal with any direct threat.
It claimed that it spotted two groups of armed men who crossed the yellow line and approached its forces in Shujaiya, and we opened fire on them.
In a context related to the humanitarian situation, the municipality of Khan Yunis said that it was suffering from the destruction of water and sewage networks. She said that 300 kilometers out of 400 kilometers of the water network in Khan Yunis were completely destroyed.
It was reported that 220 kilometers out of 300 kilometers of the sewage network in Khan Yunis were completely destroyed.
The municipality indicated that its rubble removal mechanisms are worn out, and no mechanism has entered since 2007 after the occupation imposed a harsh siege on the sector.
Needs and demands
For his part, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Tom Fletcher, stressed that there is an urgent need for more bulldozers and heavy machinery to help extract victims from under the rubble and rebuild the Gaza Strip.
As for French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot, he called on both Hamas and Israel to adhere to the terms of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
Barrow called for the opening of all crossings into Gaza, and said that the European Union’s mission in Gaza is to help deploy a Palestinian police force.
Regarding the crossings, Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that the Israeli occupation forces opened the Kerem Shalom and Kissufim crossings today to resume the entry of humanitarian aid trucks into the Gaza Strip, after they stopped yesterday coinciding with an Israeli violation of the truce.
The agreement ended a genocidal war that Israel began with American support on October 7, 2023, and left 68,159 martyrs and 170,203 injured, most of them children and women, and caused destruction that included 90% of the civilian infrastructure in the Strip.
