The event ‘Bavaria Moving Together’ in the port of Nuremberg impressively underlined the importance of the transport and logistics industry for society. Over 2,000 visitors showed how diverse and modern the jobs in this sector are. The event was organized by various Bavarian mobility and logistics associations as well as the Bavarian State Ministry for Housing, Construction and Transport. The aim was to create more recognition and appreciation for the industry.
Christian Bernreiter, Bavaria’s Transport Minister, emphasized the industry’s central role in the future viability of the Free State. Without the work of bus drivers and logistics employees, many people’s everyday lives would not function. However, the shortage of skilled workers represents a serious challenge, which is why the Free State actively promotes a positive industry image and promotes numerous initiatives.
Martin Schöffel, State Secretary in the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance and Homeland, emphasized the cooperation between various actors in order to attract more people to careers in the transport and logistics industry. Tech-savvy talents will find the best job opportunities here, as the industry is not only a central sector of the economy, but also the backbone for a good life in Bavaria.
The event offered practical experiences where visitors could experience the modernity of the professions up close. Driving simulations using VR technology, test drives with trucks and buses, and viewing exhibition vehicles demonstrated the digital change in the industry. Environmental and climate aspects were also addressed by presenting modern and historic vehicles, including an e-garbage truck and a fuel cell garbage truck.
The Nuremberg port opened its doors and offered an extraordinary opportunity to get to know the exciting careers related to ports, logistics and waterways. A varied stage program with reports from trainees and professional drivers as well as interviews made it clear to visitors the attractiveness of careers in the logistics and mobility industry. Female role models also showed that these industries also offer interesting perspectives for women.
