The former president of OSCOT entered the São José hospital in serious condition after being the victim of an attempted murder at his home on Monday morning (20th), and is now out of danger.
A PSP source confirmed to DN that José Manuel Anes was the victim of “several stab wounds”.
José Manuel Anes is a university professor and one of the best-known national criminalists. He is also the author of several works on esotericism and spirituality and is also a well-known Freemason, having been Grand Master of the Regular Grand Lodge of Portugal.
With a degree in Chemistry (FCL) and a PhD in Social Anthropology (FCSH/UNL), he is a member of several organizations linked to security and crime.
He has been director, since its founding, of the magazine Security and Defense, and after leaving the leadership of OSCOT he assumed the position of president of the Advisory Council.
He was one of those responsible for the emergence of the citizens’ group Movimento de Apoio do Almirante, Gouveia e Melo, for the Presidency, but at the beginning of the year he separated himself from it and decided that he was going to ask for its extinction.
José Manuel Anes is 81 years old.
