GUANAJUATO.- Authorities of Guanajuato reported on a historical seizure of fuel of illicit origin (huachicol). This is the largest seizure made in the entity and which represents a million-dollar impact to a network in charge of fuel storage and distribution.
State and federal Security Corporations secured one million 600 thousand liters of hydrocarbons in the search of a company located on the side of the Silao-San Felipe highway.
The operation was derived from citizen complaints and police intelligence that made it possible to identify a network dedicated to the storage and irregular distribution of fuel, reported the state Secretariat of Security and Peace.
He broke down what was seized 735 thousand liters of diesel and 940 thousand liters of fuel oilwith an estimated value that exceeds 30 million pesos, according to current reference prices.
It was stored in nine vertical cistern-type tanks (between 10,000 and 1 million liters). As well as a fleet of vehicles that included five pipes, four ‘full’ type vehicles, three tractor-trailers and three transport tanks.
He pointed out that machinery and equipment was also seized in the intervention, which included ten transfer pumps, ten dispensers with liter counters and high-pressure industrial hoses.
How did the largest huachicol seizure in Guanajuato occur?
The search occurred as a result of an investigation process developed by the State Secretariat of Security and Peace, through the General Commissariat of the State Public Security Forces (FSPE), in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the Secretariat of National Defense (Defense). The National Guard (GN), the federal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) and Pemex (Mexican Petroleum) Physical Security.
Based on the police reports presented, the Federal Public Ministry integrated sufficient evidence and requested the judicial authority to issue a search warrant, SSP/596/2025.
The Secretariat of Security and Peace indicated that the order was executed with strict adherence to the law, respect for due process and observance of human rights. During the proceedings, the authorities They secured 1 million 675 thousand liters of hydrocarbons.
The property, fuel, vehicles and other evidence located were secured and sealed in accordance with judicial protocols. And they were under the protection of Federal Public Ministry for the continuity of the corresponding ministerial and expert investigations.
The authorities reported that investigations will continue to determine the possible logistical, financial and operational networks involved in the collection and marketing of hydrocarbons of illicit origin.
“This operation represents a historic blow to the criminal economies dedicated to the theft and illegal sale of hydrocarbons. And it demonstrates the strengthening of police investigation and intelligence capabilities in Guanajuato,” the SSyP added in a statement.
