MEXICO CITY.- Claudia Sheinbaum criticized the “relaunch” of the PAN in the midst of the emergency floods in several states of Mexico.
From National Palacethe president assured that launching the new image of the National Action Party during the crisis it was “a lack of empathy.”
“I would say that they have very little sensitivity the day they did it, there are tens of thousands of affected families with problems and in the middle of that, a political party is relaunched. They could have waited 15 days until the emergency had been lifted“, said.
The so-called “relaunch of the PAN” occurred over the weekend after the floods recorded between the 7th and 11th of this month.
“I think that speaks of his vision and his lack of sensitivity and love for the people. It speaks volumes about his actions on the day he is released. It’s the same place and with the same people”.

Relaunch of the PAN
On October 18, the national president of the National Action Party, Jorge Romero Herreraled the “relaunch of the PAN”, in which he highlighted the breaking of the alliance with the PRI.
At the event held at the Frontón México they presented a new logo and guidelines for “a more open, modern and citizen PAN.”
“The alliance that will most define our destiny is the one we will have with citizen leaders… We want National Action to be a citizen vehicle that allows all Mexicans to decide who are the best candidates”.
The relaunch is based on three central axes, the party indicated in a statement:
- Redefine the causesreviving PAN pride and empathy with the people.
- Reform the statutesto open the party to a stage of participation, transparency and democracy.
- Update visual identitywith a renewed logo that reflects modernity, closeness and pride in its history.
“The obstacles to entering the PAN are over; Now any young person, any person, will be able to join without further complications.”Romero said.
Floods in Mexico leave 76 dead
According to the most recent report of the Government of Mexicoas of Monday, October 20, are counted 76 people dead and 39 missing after the floods in Puebla, Veracruz, Querétaro and Hidalgo.
About the balance in each entity:
- Veracruz: 40 municipalities affected; 34 dead and 14 people not located
- Hidalgo: 27 municipalities affected; 22 people dead and 20 not located.
- Puebla: 23 municipalities affected; 19 dead and five missing
- San Luis Potosi: 12 municipalities affected; no balance of deaths or missing
- Queretaro: eight municipalities affected; one person deceased and no one missing
