In it PAN They know that things are not going well for them. People no longer see them as a viable option to govern again. On the contrary, he considers that this party is ossified, it is corrupt and that their leadership represents just the opposite of what an ethical political figure should be.
This has a historical explanation. The PAN was founded in 1939 and, since then, it has fought for the democratization of the country. It was born as a right-wing option that sought to combat the social policies of Lazaro Cardenasbut also assumed the banner of eradicating electoral fraud.
It was 60 years before he won a presidential election. It was until the year 2000 when Vicente Fox Quesada triumphed at the polls. The first blue and white government made it clear that they were not only a right-wing option, but also a fully neoliberal one. The most worrying thing was that, barely six years later, the PAN betrayed his history: he orchestrated electoral fraud so that Felipe Calderón won the 2006 elections.
Calderón’s six-year term was chaotic and unleashed a wave of violence. Consequently, the PAN lost the 2012 elections. Already in 2018, with the arrival of Andrés Manuel López Obrador to the Presidency of the Republic, the PAN decided to ally with its former enemy: the PRI.
That alliance, although it gave it some victories in 2021, ended up leading to a historic defeat for both parties in 2024. Today, the PAN assures that it is “relaunching” and “reinventing” itself.
The problem is that it does so through a political marketing campaign, not by strengthening its principles, adapting to the Mexican reality or building a solid political proposal.
Everything in the relaunch of the PAN It seems more like a strategy to reposition a commercial brand than an effort to revitalize a political party. Therefore, this supposed refoundation of the blue and white team is destined to fail.
Thus, the relaunch of the PAN is doomed to fail and, the worst for them, to turn them into a party void of ethics, principles and a national project.
