PJ is investigating the death of Susana Gravato, councilor of the Vagos City Council

“We are in shock and dismay,” said the mayor. According to João Paulo Sousa, the circumstances of the death are not known to him.

“Upon our arrival, we came across the victim’s husband maneuvering [de reanimação] and we continued until the arrival of the medical vehicle, which declared death on the spot”, said the commander.

Susana Gravato, born in Ílhavo, lived in Gafanha da Vagueira, municipality of Vagos, since she was six years old, according to her CV available on the municipality’s website.

With a law degree, Susana Gravato practiced law and was a member of the PSD since 1994. In 2009, she was elected municipal deputy for the Vagos Primeiro movement, and currently served as councilor in the outgoing executive (PSD), with responsibility for environment, justice, general administration, social cohesion and health, among others.

The Chamber of Vagos has now decreed three days of municipal mourning in memory and public recognition of the councilor. In a note of condolence published on social media, the Chamber of Vagos, in the district of Aveiro, expresses “deep consternation” at the death of the councilor of the outgoing executive, who “He stood out for his dedication to public service, his proximity to people and his commitment to the development” of the municipality.

“His departure leaves us poorer and saddens the entire Vaganese community”, adds the municipality in the note of condolence, addressing Susana Gravato’s family, friends and colleagues with its “most heartfelt condolences” and solidarity.
