The president of the management company of the Lisbon funiculars resigns after the Glory Elevator report

The president of Carris, the company that manages the Lisbon funiculars, Pedro de Brito Bogas, resigned this Wednesday after the publication of a technical report, which details a series of irregularities in the operation of the Elevator of Glory, where 16 people died on September 3 in an accident.

In a statement, the City Council of the Portuguese capital reported his resignation, as well as that of the other members of the Board of Directors of the Companhia Carris de Ferro de Lisboa (CCFL).

According to the preliminary report of the Cabinet for the Prevention and Investigation of Aircraft and Railway Accidents (GPIAAF), the government agency in charge of the case, the Gloria funicular accident occurred due to breakage of a cable that did not comply with the regulations for the transport of peoplenor with the requirements of the urban transport company itself.
