Emmerdale’s Caleb Miligan (William Ash) and Ruby Miligan (Beth Cordingly) seem to go looking for trouble.
Having got through the whole Anthony murder saga, and having managed to help killer John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) escape the country, Caleb and Ruby’s latest brush with law breaking takes the shape of harbouring a stowaway in a delivery van.
After Caleb witnessed an accident involving Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), the two men attempted to sort things out. Just as this was happening though, Caleb made the stomach-churning discovery of a stowaway in a van.
Unlucky for him, the police showed up at that moment to take a statement, but luckily for him the woman did a runner before he could get in trouble.
But Ruby tracked the vulnerable woman down and vowed to help. As a mother with a daughter going through some tough times, Ruby couldn’t just let her go.
She called on Liam (Jonny McPherson) to check her over, who advised her to go to the authorities. But authorities and Ruby do not get on, and Ruby decided to just help the woman instead – against Caleb’s wishes.
Caleb made his feelings crystal clear that Ruby should get rid of the woman, named Anya, but Caleb has never been able to control Ruby.
After doing what she can to help Anya and keep her hidden, she’s shocked to find her packing to leave. She blames Caleb in an almighty row and begs Anya to stay.
Caleb is fuming when he later turns up at Mill Cottage to find Anya still making herself at home.
Another almighty row erupts between him and his wife, making Anya feel uneasy about staying. As Ruby and Caleb continue their argument into the next day, they’re stunned to discover that while they’ve been wrapped up in one-upmanship, Anya ran.
Caleb is relieved and tries to convince Ruby that it’s a good thing, while Ruby is apoplectic.
She’ll stop at nothing to get Anya back, even risking herself to do so. Who is Anya and what kind of trouble will she get Ruby in?
