Municipalities of Edomex that will receive more water from the Cutzamala System


The National Water Commission (Conagua) reported that since last October 14 to date it is sending 45% more of the volume of water to Mexico City and the State of Mexico, than what happened in previous months, due to the increase in the storage level of the dams of the Cutzamala system.

In the session of the Technical Committee for the Operation of Hydraulic Works (CTOOH) It was stated that since last October 14, the volume of drinking water supplied as a block to both entities has gradually increased from 10,797 cubic meters per second (m³/s) to 15,706 m³/s.

Until October 13, a flow of 10,797 m³/s was supplied, of which 6,156 m³/s went to 13 municipalities in Mexico Citythrough the Secretariat of Comprehensive Water Management, and 4,641 m³/s to 15 municipalities of the State of Mexico, through the Water Commission of the State of Mexico.

Now, of the 15,706 m³/s, 9,403 m³/s are destined for CDMX and 6,303 m³/s for the State of Mexico.

How are the Cutzamala dams doing?

Today, the general director of the Water Basin Organization of the Valley of Mexico (OCAVM), Citlalli Elizabeth Peraza Camacho, explained that, as of October 20, 2025, The total level in the storage dams of the Cutzamala System is 757.44 million cubic meters (Mm³), which is equivalent to 96.8% of its capacity.

Specifically, the El Bosque dam, located in Michoacán, has a filling level of 97.5%, with a volume of 197.40 Mm³; Bravo Valley, in the State of Mexico, it has 97.1%, with 382.90 Mm³, and Villa Victoria, in the same entity, contains 95.4%, with 177.14 Mm³ of the liquid.

The municipalities of the State of Mexico supplied by the Cutzamala are Acolman, Atizapán de Zaragoza, Coacalco, Cuautitlán Izcalli, Ecatepec de Morelos, Huixquilucan, Lerma, Naucalpan de Juárez, Nezahualcóyotl, Nicolás Romero, Ocoyoacac, Tecámac, Tlalnepantla, Toluca and Tultitlán.
