Authorities arrest 6 from a “Los Chapitos” cell

The mobilization took place on Alfonso Zaragoza Boulevard, where the agents were attacked with firearms by alleged members of the criminal group.

Mexico City, October 22 (However).- Six alleged members of a cell criminal of “Los Chapitos“were arrested this Wednesday in Culiacan, Sinaloaduring a operational set of authorities of the Security Cabinet. In the same deployment, another alleged aggressor was shot down after attacking the federal forces.

Among those captured are José Manuel “N” y Juan Carlos “N”alias “Mono Canelo” y “The Chango”who had already been captured in 2024 and 2025, respectively, but were released by a Judge. Both are identified as alleged recruiters and coordinators of armed operations for the faction of “Los Chapitos”.

The head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Omar García Harfuch, reported on his social networks that the detainees “were captured again and their criminal operations were ended.”

During the mobilization, carried out in the vicinity of Alfonso Zaragoza Boulevard, in the Tres Ríos Urban Development area, the agents were attacked with gunshots.

In response, they repelled the attack in accordance with the use of force protocols and killed an aggressor identified as Luis Ezequiel “N”, alias “El Morral”, identified as the leader of the criminal cell.

According to him statementeight firearms (five long ones, one submachine gun and two short ones), 12 magazines, 150 useful cartridges and three vehicles were seized at the scene.

The six detainees – “Mono Canelo”, “Chango”, “Javi”, “Peluchín”, “Kevin Sarabia” and “Lino Aarón Uriarte” – were informed of their rights and placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry, which will define their legal situation.

The operation was carried out by elements of the SSPCin coordination with the Secretariat of National Defense (Defense), the Navy, the National Guard (GN), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and the state Secretariat of Public Security (SSP).

Finally, the Security Cabinet reiterated its commitment to maintaining coordination between federal and state forces to combat the generators of violence and strengthen security in Sinaloa and the country.
