The Qatari Prime Minister receives the American envoy to Syria news

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani received – on Wednesday – the American special envoy to Syria, Tom Barrack.

The two sides discussed the latest developments in Syria and ways of cooperation between the State of Qatar and the United States to support stability in Syria.

It is worth noting that the UN Security Council held a session on Wednesday devoted to discussing developments in Syria, during which the American representative to the United Nations, Michael Waltz, spoke, calling for support for efforts to ease the sanctions imposed on Syria and on members of the Syrian leadership.

Waltz praised the initiatives of countries in the region, such as Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Jordan, to support Syrian institutions and strengthen the national economy, stressing Washington’s continued support for efforts to rebuild Syrian regional relations.

During the same session, delegates from France, China, Russia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Algeria affirmed the protection of Syrian sovereignty.

For her part, Najat Rushdi, Deputy Special Envoy of the United Nations to Syria, called during the session to put an end to Israel’s continued violations of Syrian territory, and to respect the country’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
