Sheinbaum highlights “very significant” reduction in robberies in Mexico-Querétaro
Sheinbaum stated that robberies on the Mexico-Querétaro highway have decreased considerably thanks to the “Zero Robbery” operation. He said that this strategy is also applied on other roads and that the future Mexico-Querétaro Train will offer a safer and more efficient option for travelers, reducing accidents and the use of private cars.
Sheinbaum plans to raise an extra 400 million pesos by 2026
The President announced that her government seeks to raise an additional 400 billion pesos in 2026 without creating new taxes. The increase will come from greater control in customs, combating corruption and better tax collection. He clarified that there will only be minor adjustments, such as immigration quotas and updating the IEPS on soft drinks, which he considered more of a health measure than a revenue measure.
Sheinbaum talks about military and customs functions
Sheinbaum denied that military personnel have been removed from their duties at customs, as has been spread in some rumors. He explained that land customs continue to be under military supervision and maritime customs are under the responsibility of the Secretary of the Navy. He highlighted that work is being done to modernize inspections with X-ray and gamma ray equipment, in order to reduce time and avoid manual inspections.
Sheinbaum postpones Security Cabinet report until November
President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that the monthly report of the Security Cabinet will be presented on November 11, when progress in investigations into fiscal huachicol will be included. He explained that the decision seeks to integrate the complete data from October. He added that the government carries out detailed analyzes by customs to detect irregularities and strengthen controls at ports and borders.
Passenger train project advances
The head of the Rail Transport Regulatory Agency, Andrés Lajous, reported on the progress in the Mexico City-Pachuca, Mexico-Querétaro, Querétaro-Irapuato and Saltillo-Nuevo Laredo railway projects. He explained that the works have already begun in several sections and that Buenavista will be the main connection point. The tenders have been awarded and the first Mexico City-Pachuca train is expected to arrive at the end of 2026.
Sheinbaum highlighted that the trains will benefit mobility and reduce the saturation of highways such as Mexico-Querétaro.
The number of people killed by rains in 5 states rises to 78
The Federal Government reported that the number of dead people increased to 78 and those not located to 23 due to the rains and floods in Hidalgo, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí and Veracruz.
President Claudia Sheinbaum reported that she has already begun delivering support of 20 thousand pesos to affected families, starting in Veracruz, Puebla, Querétaro and San Luis Potosí, and on Sunday in Hidalgo, where there are still unconnected areas.
