Carlos Sainz Jr., Williams driver, is already in Mexican territory to compete in the 2025 Mexican Grand Prix, where he was received by hundreds of fans who showed him their affectionate support.
Without the presence of Sergio “Checo” Pérez, the Madrid native became one of the darlings of the public in the first official event prior to the race.
“Carlos, you are the king of Mexico,” read one of the banners, while other fans carried religious cards with his face, team clothing and even their old team.
Among the gifts they tried to give him, the curious attempt to give him avocados stood out, a sign of the enthusiasm of the Mexican followers.
Sainz recalled with emotion his victory at the “Hermanos Rodríguez” Autodrome last year. He called it his best victory.
“It was my best victory in F1. I remember that day very well and how it made me feel like the best in the world… I want to feel that again. It’s what keeps me hungry, keeps me alive and drives me,” he declared.
The Spaniard has 38 points and occupies 11th place in the drivers’ championship.
