Brother Wang is recaptured in Cuba after escape in CDMX

Three months after he escaped from house arrest in Mexico City, Zhi Dong Zhang, the Chinese man known as “Brother Wang,” supplier of fentanyl for the Sinaloa and Nueva Generación cartels, was arrested in Cuba, sources from the security cabinet reported.

Cuban authorities have already notified Mexico of the recapture of the “Brother Wang”who will be transferred to our country once the procedures for his delivery are completed.

Zhi Dong Zhang outwitted the National Guard

Last July, Dong Zhang escaped from house arrest to the National Guard, precautionary measure that was issued to him within the framework of the extradition process to the United States, to which he was subject.

He escaped from his house in Tlalpan during the early hours of the morning through a tunnel that connected to an adjacent property.

To do this, he disabled his electronic bracelet – destroying it – and evaded the surveillance of the National Guard.whose agents only carried out surveillance outside the house located south of Mexico City, without knowing what was happening inside.

“Brother Wang” fled “Chapo” style

Investigations indicate that three external people helped him flee, in a maneuver that was compared to the escape of the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera, of the Altiplano maximum security prison, in July 2015.

It should be noted that that same day, a Federal Court of Georgia, United States, issued a new arrest warrant against Dong Zhang for laundering at least $20 million between 2020 and 2021.

After his escape, in the first days of August, the Attorney General’s Office asked a judge to issue an arrest warrant against the Chinese citizen for the crime of “resistance by individuals.” by removing the tracking device that was imposed on him.

However, the judge of the Reclusorio Oriente declared himself incompetent to hear the matter, decision that was already challenged by the FGR before a Collegiate Court of Appeal of Mexico City.
