Karen Kincaid Brady has been named the new director of the New Mexico Museum of Space History, a position she will assume beginning October 27, 2025. This appointment underscores the museum’s importance as a leading institution in the preservation and communication of New Mexico’s space history. Brady brings more than a decade of experience in museum management and historic preservation, making her an ideal fit for this role.
Prior to her new position, Brady served as business and program director at the Neill-Cochran House Museum in Austin, Texas. There she was responsible for daily operations, human resources management and the development of fundraising strategies. Her work also included leading historical preservation projects that resulted in exhibitions at museums such as the Museum of Science and History in Jacksonville, Florida.
Brady herself describes her passion for space history as deep-rooted, inspired by her childhood visits to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. She will now bring that passion to her new role to further advance the stories of innovation and discovery that define New Mexico and space travel.
The New Mexico Museum of Space History in Alamogordo is a significant part of the state’s cultural landscape. It is a division of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs and a Smithsonian Affiliate. The museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing New Mexico’s contributions to space research and development and is home to the International Space Hall of Fame and the New Horizons Dome Theater.
