Very unexpected Emmerdale friendship blossoms between two unlikely characters

Of all the unlikely Emmerdale friendships – from besties Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson), to Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) and Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) – this is one no one saw coming.

And that’s because one half of this duo has impregnated the other’s wife. Not the ideal groundwork for a blossoming friendship.

Ross Barton (Michael Parr) and Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) have notoriously always been at each other’s throats, with Ross being Charity’s ex and an insolent little oik to Mack.

From the day Ross returned to the village as part of the fighting ring and Mack threw the fight, Ross has not been his biggest fan.

Mack has also not been an admirer of Ross with him worming his way back into Moses’ life while being a deadbeat dad.

Fast forward to now, and Mack has even more reason to hate Ross, not that he knows it yet – Ross has managed to knock up Charity after sleeping with her when she and Mack had had a fight.

Ross is also technically none the wiser, as Charity managed to teach herself some Photoshopping skills and edited the DNA test results to say Ross is not the father.

Charity then decided not to go through with an abortion, opting instead to palm the baby off as Sarah’s (Katie Hill).

FROM ITV Emmerdale Michael Parr returns to Emmerdale Michael Parr is to reprise his role as legendary Emmerdale bad boy Ross Barton six years after leaving the village. Michael, who first joined Emmerdale in 2013, became a fan favourite for his portrayal of the complex-but-charismatic Ross and will reappear on screen later this year. During his time on the show, Ross was also known for his tumultuous relationships with Donna Windsor and Debbie Dingle. His first relationship culminated sadly in Donna???s suicide, when she fell with dodgy criminal Gary North off the roof of a car park. Having truly loved Donna, Ross was absolutely devastated by her death. Ross later began a secret affair with Debbie Dingle, who was engaged to his brother Pete. This ended when it was revealed that Ross had a one night stand with Debbie???s mother, Charity, conceiving baby Moses. Ross also became involved in many dangerous schemes including a plot to kill his brother Pete, but is most notably remembered for the heart-wrenching storyline which saw him battle with depression during his recovery from a devastating acid attack. With old wounds still to heal, his presence in the village is likely to stir up feelings and ignite some new rivalries.
