If you’ve watched any season of The Traitors, you know the show has never played a season without a major twist. In season two, we had the big twist of the murder in plain sight which we hadn’t seen before. In season three, we had not not only some cast coming back or the card game night – but also the fact that Francesca got the seer power. The point I’m making here is things may not be all they seem so far in The Celebrity Traitors, and one theory suggests that there might be a big twist coming with one of the Faithful in a secret role and task of being the detective and that person is none other than Celia Imrie.
Hear me out…
There are a few games The Traitors is based on that you may have played before. These games have different names, like Village of the Damned or Mafia. But basically, the premise is always similar. There are villagers, and there are people who at night kill off the villagers and then there’s always a vote to banish someone from the game. There are also extra roles added in here, namely one’s called the detective or the oracle. The oracle is what Francesca got to be in the last civilian series.
But the detective is a role that basically gets to predict a guess of who the villain, in this case the Traitors, is. And the host or narrator (Claudia) can give a signal. The detective then can choose whether to give away whether they are that role or not because obviously if they do they can become a target for the Traitors to murder.
People now think Celia Imrie has a secret task from Claudia to be the detective on The Celebrity Traitors. And it started on Reddit but it actually has legs – the BBC teased this season would have a secret!
In one Reddit post, the viewer wrote, “Theory: Celia is secretly a detective character. When she makes a correct guess at the round table (which she’s done once so far, for Cat), Claudia surreptitiously responds to her with a wink. No wink means her guess isn’t a Traitor. The existence of a detective in the game will be revealed to us sometime this coming week, then at some point later on to the Traitors.”

This was then backed up by another theory on TikTok – pointing out more clues. The creator said, “Some of you now think that Celia is working with Claudia on The Traitors. The theory is that she is secretly a detective that, apparently, when she makes a correct guess at the round table, Claudia has been winking at her…. And when she doesn’t wink, that means that they’re not a Traitor.
“People have also noticed that in the very first episode, when Claudia is hanging up the portraits and then Celia’s portrait winks at her, Claudia replies ‘knockout’”
Because this is all so weird and nonsensical, it actually would be an insane twist that The Celebrity Traitors has Celia Imrie on a secret task to be the detective on Claudia’s orders!
