The tropical storm Melissa that hit the shores of Dominican Republic on Friday leaving one person dead and one more missing, evolved into a hurricane this Saturday as it passes through the Caribbean Sea and heads towards Jamaica.
While passing through the Dominican Republic, Melissa left floods and power outages; likewise, a 78 year old man died in the capital Santo Domingo, after being carried away by the current.

The body of the victim, who suffered from a disability, later appeared lifeless, reported the mayor of Santo Domingo Norte, Betty Geronimo.
Likewise, the waves dragged a 13 year old teenager who was bathing in the rain in Santo Domingo, according to Civil Defense spokespersons. The young man remains as missing since Thursday.
In Haiti, Melissa also left three people deadaccording to reports issued by local authorities.
