Virginia Giuffre’s ex-boyfriend has revealed that she was left trembling with fear just hours after she was allegedly trafficked to Prince Andrew for the first time.

Tony Figueroa, now 43, received a call from terrified 17-year-old Virginia in March 2001.

It was less than four years after the death of Princess Diana, and he said they were both alarmed by conspiracy theories that the royals had hermurdered.

Tony told The Sun on Sunday: ‘I remember that call clearly. She was terrified. Her voice was shaking the whole time.

‘I was also absolutely terrified something would happen to her.

‘We talked about the death of Diana. This man was so powerful, he was literally a prince.’

Tony was in the US at the time of the call and was concerned that if something happened to her, no one would believe him.

This revelation comes six months after Virginia’s death by suicide and in the same week as the release of her posthumous memoir ‘Nobody’s Girl’.

Tony insists the former Duke of York should accept he played a part in her suicide ‘because those were the times she was most scared.’

At the time of her death in April 2025, her parents said: ‘In the end, the toll of abuse is so heavy that it became unbearable for Virginia to handle its weight.’

Tony, who was by her side throughout her years of abuse, wiped away tears and said: ‘I tried to get back in touch with her.

‘I asked someone to pass along a message but I never heard back.’

Last week, Prince Andrew was forced to stop using his titles – including Duke of York – as fresh stories about his relationship with convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein emerged.

In his official statement on October 17, he said: ‘We have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.

‘I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first.

‘As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.’

Tony has little hope that, despite the stripping of titles, justice will be served.

He said: ‘Basically nothing is happening. So he’s not a duke any more? Wow, is that it? Where is she at right now?

‘Yeah, that’s not any kind of justice. I honestly don’t think anything’s gonna happen. I’m not gonna say that I’ve given up hope, but it’s just slaps on the wrist.’

Andrew now faces twin efforts from Buckingham Palace and Parliament to strip him of the remaining vestiges of status.

He is expected to face pressure to move out of Royal Lodge, his 30-bedroom mansion on the Windsor estate, and to formally remove his dukedom.

It is rare for Parliament to discuss matters concerning the Royal Family, but the Liberal Democrats have signalled they may use an upcoming Opposition Day debate to raise Andrew’s case.
