SpaceX is preparing to achieve another significant milestone in space travel history. The 88th launch from the Space Coast this year is scheduled to take place on Sunday morning, underscoring the impressive frequency of SpaceX’s launches. The mission, which will launch 29 Starlink satellites into orbit, will be carried by a Falcon 9 rocket booster, which is now on its 24th mission. Launch is scheduled for 10:40 a.m., with a launch window remaining open until 2:05 p.m.

Weather conditions for launch are promising, with an 85 percent chance of favorable conditions at the start of the window. This probability drops to 70% towards the end of the window. If the start is postponed by one day, the chances of a successful start are between 80% and 60%. The first rocket booster will attempt to land on the drone ship ‘A Shortfall of Gravitas’ in the Atlantic.

The Starlink satellites launched on this mission are part of SpaceX’s growing satellite constellation network, which has continued to expand since its first operational launch in 2019. According to astronomer Jonathan McDowell, SpaceX has now launched over 10,000 Starlink satellites, with about 8,700 still in orbit. These impressive numbers illustrate SpaceX’s ambitions to build a global internet network.

With this launch, SpaceX will surpass its own record of 134 launches in 2024. The Space Coast has seen almost all of SpaceX’s launches this year, with the exception of five missions conducted by United Launch Alliance and Blue Origin. Both companies plan additional launches in November, while SpaceX plans to conduct one more Falcon 9 launch before the end of the year. The Space Coast could surpass the record 93 launches in 2024 by mid-November and is on track to break the 100 launch mark.
