They celebrate Super Kermés 2025 of the Minor Seminary of Mérida

MÉRIDA.- Like every year since 1994, the Minor Seminary “San Felipe de Jesús” celebrated his Super Kermésin its 2025 edition.

It is an event that seeks family coexistence, while contributing to the seminary formation of young people called to the priestly vocation.

Early on, on a hot day, the activities that were part of the previously announced itinerary began, which included the sale of snacks, amusement rides, shows on the stage, music and many more activities for the whole family.

As previously reported by Diarythe objective of the meeting is to raise funds for the formative house that currently has 66 seminarians and that year after year has the participation of more young people called by God.

During the event, Eucharistic activities were also carried out such as the celebration of mass, officiated by the Archbishop Gustavo Rodríguez Vegaaccompanied by the rector of the Minor Seminary, the priest Ricardo Atoche Enseñat.

This Sunday’s homily focused on Saint Paul’s second letter to Timothy and his message about the apostle’s willingness to sacrifice and persevere in faith.

In that sense, the monsignor presented Saint Paul as an example of humility and dedication towards the Lord. At the same time, he pointed out that humility in prayer is important and that it does not have any distinction in who does it, but rather in the way in which it is done.

“Humility is not in a social class, but in the hearts of those who always trust in the Lord“, stressed the archbishop.

Likewise, the prelate cited the Parable of the Pharisee and the Publican which belongs to Luke 18:9-14, where the way of praying of both is compared, highlighting the humility of the publican who considers himself a sinner.

“A person who remains pure, who does not commit sins, if he has humility, will say: ‘I am a sinner.’ Saints must also recognize themselves as sinners, if they do not do so they have already fallen from the pedestal and are about to lose their good work.”.

After the Eucharist, recognition was given to the parishes that helped and supported the great event.

The celebration and fun continued outside the church, where hundreds of families enjoyed the sale of kibis, cochinita cakes, suckling pig and roast, frappes, pens, ice cream, raffles, games, clothing and plant sales, and soccer tournaments in which the little ones competed to bring their recognition to their parishes.

One of the attendees at the event was Rubí Tun Espinozawho said to Diary It was the first time he came to the fair.

“I loved it“, she shared with enthusiasm. And added that it was the hospitable and pleasant atmosphere that caught her and that would definitely bring her back in a future edition.

Additionally, she believes that the support given to young people who wish to preach the word of God in the future is important.

“It is important to support them so that they can achieve their objectives and goals in the word of God.”.

Dressed in green shirts that read “Seminarian” and who distinguished them from the crowd, the young candidates for the priesthood, also shared with the Diario what this event represents for them.

Noel Tecsaid that this meeting meant a meeting with his brother seminarians, while getting to know “the faces that are behind prayer and that also support vocations.”

“In this event I also find God in people, in everyone who supports the Seminary and is attentive to the formation of future pastors.”.

For him, the support of the community is of utmost importance, since he considers that “the priest’s service is for the people, for the community and not for himself.”

“It is always convenient to contribute to this formation, because when the priest finishes the seminary he will give himself to a people”.

For its part, Abraham Cardenathe first seminarian in his family proudly shared excitedly that “it is an encounter with the Lord, through people, with every smile and collaboration they give – to the Seminary -. For us it is a source of pride.”

His vocation arose when the priest of his church invited him to the processes, where he forged a relationship with peers of the same age and thought he might find something for himself in the calling.

“The idea of ​​the seminar is to form good Christians who can follow the boat of the church in the future.”.

The day continued its course with the coronation of the ambassador of the kermes, music and many more shows that with great affection the Minor Seminary prepared for the community.
