Zombie Walk takes to the streets of Cape Town

Zombie Walk, Cape Town’s beloved Halloween spectacle, is returning to the Mother City this weekend in spook-tacular fashion.

This Saturday, 1 November 2025, hordes of Halloween and horror enthusiasts are expected to shuffle through the streets of the city’s CBD, wearing their best walking dead duds for the occasion.

If you want to get in on the zombie action, here’s how:

ZOMBIE WALK: REGISTRATION, TIME AND ROUTE

To book your place in the Zombie Walk, you can register for free at www.zombiewalk.co.za.

The event begins at 16:30 and will end approximately at 18:30. You and other participants will gather at the Company Gardens at 109 Government Avenue.

After a welcome address and safety briefing, the procession will begin. The route is as follows:

  • Walk down Government Avenue through the gardens.
  • Exit into St George’s Mall and continue all the way down.
  • Gather at Thibault Square, then progress into Lower Long Street via the pedestrian crossing.
  • Continue down Lower Long Street, crossing Alpha Street.
  • Enter Lower Loop Street and walk through North Wharf Square.
  • Head onto the Fan Walk, crossing Buitengracht & Alfred Street.
  • Enter the pedestrian walkway at the BAT Building.
  • Walk through to Marina Two, onto Quay Street and into West Quay Road.
  • Pass by the Cape Grace Hotel and cross the Blue Bridge.
  • Enter the Time Out Market at the V&A Waterfront, which marks the end point of the walk and also serves as the venue for the afterparty.

Tickets for the afterparty start from R100 and are available to purchase from www.quicket.co.za.

You are also encouraged to make donations, which the event organisers will distribute to local charities. Beneficiaries include the Lucky Lucy Foundation, which is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating abused and neglected animals.

THESE RULES ARE A NO-BRAINER

The Zombie Walk is meant to be a fun, safe and inclusive event. As such, safety of the participants – yourself included – is paramount.

You must obey marshals, medics, security and traffic officials. The events allows you to bring fake weapons, so long as they don’t feature sharp blades. Likewise, prop guns must have an orange tip attached. You also also prohibited from drinking alcohol during the walk.

Above all, you are strongly encouraged to dress up in your best zombie threads. After it, it’s the best way to get into the undead spirit!

So, whether you’re looking to hang out with fellow Halloween fans or need a chilled alternative to the cancelled Cape Town Marathon, Zombie Walk is guaranteed to be a thriller.
