Carla Connor (Alison King) has been away in Ireland for a couple of weeks, leaving Becky Swain (Amy Cudden) ample room to worm her way back into family life with wife Lisa (Vicky Myers) and daughter Betsy (Sydney Martin) on Coronation Street.
Becky’s return from the dead this summer turned the world of the Connor-Swains upside down, as they were forced to come to terms with the fact that Becky hadn’t died in a hit-and-run years ago and their grief could have been spared.
After rocking up and giving Lisa the fright of her life, Becky explained that she had been living in Spain under witness protection after an undercover assignment went wrong.
Since her return, she has made it her mission to win back her family, and while she has certainly made headway with Betsy, Lisa has remained committed to Carla.
However, with Carla temporarily out of the picture, Becky has found it easier to insert herself back into Lisa’s orbit, and it is clear that the detective sergeant’s anger towards her not-so-dead wife has slowly started to dissipate.
With Lisa’s emotions all over the place, she recently confided in Roy Cropper (David Neilson) that she still loved Becky, but made it clear that it was Carla she wanted to spend the rest of her life with.
In upcoming scenes, Lisa informs Roy that Carla is due home, and makes it clear that her feelings for Becky are firmly in the past.
Though Lisa is keen to move on, the same can’t be said for Becky, who leaves Carla taken aback when she deliberately lets slip that she has been staying at No.6.
To make matters worse, when swiping through pictures on Betsy’s phone at the Rovers’ Halloween party that evening, Carla stumbles across the video of Becky and Lisa modelling Betsy’s designs.
Viewers will know that the video in question has already caused trouble, with Betsy having been scolded by Becky for putting it on social media.
Put out by how much fun Lisa and Becky had seemingly had together in her absence, Carla tells Lisa she’s going home.
With Carla gone, Betsy tells Becky about her bad mood, and the fact that the video caused it.
Spying an opportunity, Becky heads to meet Betsy at the Rovers, where she ends up playing her’s and Lisa’s first dance song.
Becky tactically reminds Lisa of the vows they made on their wedding day, and assures her that she meant every word.
As Becky tells Lisa that they were happy once and could be again, will she make her move?
