After a horror start to the Cricket World Cup, the Proteas Women brushed off that heavy defeat to England, claiming five subsequent wins on the way to comfortably securing a semi-final berth.
South Africa will now have a shot at redemption when they face England again, this time in the first Cricket World Cup semi-final, which takes place on Wednesday.
“It’s disappointing to lose the way we did (against England in the opener) but coach Mandla Mashimbyi always says to have the chicken brain,” commented star player Sinalo Jafta said, referencing a plan to forget that performance quickly.
“Obviously, we will assess where we went wrong and then by the time we get on the plane tomorrow to go to Guwahati, we will know what’s at stake. It gives us a great opportunity to search, reflect and just see where we went wrong.
“So it’s literally just going out there, forgetting what happened and just focusing on what works for us. I mean, we’ve proved it before. So what’s stopping us from doing it again?”
The Proteas Women’s semi-final gets under way at 11:30 (SA time), and once again the whole of Mzansi will united behind the ever-impressive Proteas Women’s team.
The second semi-final will take place between India and Australia, with that clash also starting at 11:30 (SA time) on Thursday.
