The President of the United States, Donald Trump, today congratulated his Argentine counterpart on “overwhelming victory” of Javier Milei’s party ins legislative elections yes Argentina.
“Congratulations to President Javier Milei on his landslide victory in Argentina. He is doing an excellent job! The Argentine people have justified our trust in him,” Trump wrote on the social network he owns, Truth Social, while on his way to Japan.

The Argentine President, Javier Milei, obtained strong electoral support on Sunday in the legislative elections, which allowed him to obtain a fundamental position in parliament to advance with reforms and deepen the adjustment plan which it has been promoting since December 2023.
According to the most recent figures, with 98.93% of the votes counted, the LLA won the elections with 40.68% and obtained a wide margin over the Peronist Fuerza Patria and its allies, with 31.69%. The President’s party, La Libertad Avanza, significantly increased representation in Congress.
Trump said he supports Milei because it is important “that a great philosophy conquers a great country”, and that other Latin American states follow the path of the Argentine President’s ultra-libertarian movement.
Milei thanked Trump for the help of the North American government, which bought pesos and opened a currency swap line to inject liquidity in dollars into the Argentine economy, worth up to 20 billion dollars (17.2 billion euros).
