Tourism in Mexico rises for the Day of the Dead

MEXICO CITY (EFE).— The Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) yesterday estimated a 2.3% increase in hotel occupancy with more than 1.6 million tourists attending the traditional celebrations for the Day of the Dead throughout the country.

The Secretary of Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamoraspecified in a statement that the arrival of 1.6 million tourists to hotels is expected in the period between today, Monday, October 27, and Sunday, November 2.

This figure represents an increase of 2.3% compared to 2024, when around 1.5 million visitors were registered.

Rodríguez Zamora pointed out that of the total number of tourists expected this year, 73% will be national and 27% foreign, which reflects “the interest that Mexican traditions arouse throughout the world.”
