After Death in VeniceAndrésen tried to reinvent himself as a musician. He played the piano, composed, and became a small pop sensation in Japan, where he recorded albums and participated in television programs. His face inspired manga author Riyoko Ikeda to create the iconic androgynous character Lady Oscar.
His life, however, continued to be marked by losses: his son, Elvin, died at just nine months old, a victim of sudden death.
Em 2021, the documentary The Most Beautiful Boy in the Worlddirected by Kristian Petri and Kristina Lindström, brought him back into the spotlight. The work, shown at the Sundance Festival, revealed the man behind the myth: vulnerable, lucid and tired of carrying the burden of an image he never chose.
Kristian Petri, director and longtime friend, remembered him as someone “gentle and reserved” who never managed to fully free himself from the shadow of his role in Death in Venice. “It was a beauty that the world wouldn’t let him forget,” he said. A title that became a curse.
