Sally has had a busy year so far, with her cobbles alter ego Abi having been involved in some enormous storylines.

In January, Abi was left traumatised when she found teenager Mason Radcliffe bleeding from a stab wound, and his subsequent death had a devastating effect on her mental health.

With the attack having reminded her of son Seb Franklin’s death four years ago, Abi began suffering from PTSD, and started hallucinating Seb.

She received help for the disorder after agreeing to go to therapy, but faced more trauma when husband Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) was diagnosed with testicular cancer.

In the months that followed, she was rocked by the arrival of Kevin’s younger brother Carl (Jonathan Howard), with sparks instantly flying between them.

The tension boiled over in April when Carl leaned in to kiss Abi, with the mechanic quickly pushing him away and warning him to never mention it again.

Abi and Carl attempted to ignore their chemistry for months, but eventually gave into their feelings and shared a passionate kiss in the garage.

Kevin has since found out about the affair, with Abi concluding that she wants to be with Carl over him.

However, as Abi excitedly discusses her future with Carl, she remains oblivious to the fact he really has no intention of settling down. Whenever things like living together or connecting with young Alfie are mentioned, Carl successfully distracts Abi from the subject.

Which certainly means more heartbreak is waiting for her in the future.
