Lily Allen’s new album West End Girl has been turning heads, not just for its brutally honest lyrics, but for the jaw-dropping speculation about who those lyrics might be about. The album, which came out on Friday 24th October, appears to be largely inspired by the breakdown of Lily’s marriage to her estranged husband, Stranger Things actor David Harbour.
While David has never directly addressed the breakdown of their marriage, he did tell GQ back in April that he’s “protective of the people and the reality of [his] life”, adding: “There’s no use in that form of engaging [with tabloid news] because it’s all based on hysterical hyperbole.”

The couple have never officially confirmed if they’re divorced, but Lily recently referred to Harbour as her “ex-husband” in an interview with British Vogue.
Still, she’s hinted that not every lyric should be taken as gospel, describing West End Girl as “autofiction” — a mix of autobiography and imagination.
One track in particular, P***y Palace, has everyone talking. The song tells the story of Lily dropping off her partner’s clothes and medication at what she thought was just his second apartment, only to find it was something else entirely.
“Duane Reade bag with the handles tied / Sex toys, butt plugs, lube inside / Hundreds of Trojans,” she sings, before the line: “I didn’t know it was your p***y palace, p***y palace / I always thought it was a dojo, dojo”.
Everyone seemed to noticed one particular lyric where she mentions “the apartment at the West Village”, and that’s where the detectives come in. People have started connecting the dots between those lyrics and David Harbour’s Architectural Digest tour of his custom-renovated New York loft, filmed back in 2020. The apartment is — you guessed it — in the West Village.
The apartment is a sleek, factory-style space filled with plants, brass finishes and a giant bookcase with a sliding ladder. The 1,400-square-foot apartment was described as a “one-room loft”, complete with a spa-like bathroom and exposed bolts from the original building. Seems like it could be a dojo to me.

The comments section have since been flooded with messages like: “Here after listening to West End Girl…” and “Omg, this is the p***y palace”.
One person even joked: “I pictured sofas in an easier-to-wipe leather tbh”.
At the time of writing, David Harbour has not commented on Lily Allen’s album.
