Last night’s MAFS UK 2025 dinner party was a tough one, especially for Maeve. Now, fellow MAFS UK 2025 cast members have been posting in defence of Maeve, following the scenes.
In the last week, Maeve’s groom Joe has been absent from the experiment. His grandad passed away, and he spent some time away from filming to deal with his grief. During this time, Maeve said she felt alone, and like she didn’t know where she stood anymore.
This wasn’t helped by the fact Joe opened up to groom Ashley, and said he was questioning if he really loved Maeve. Ahead of the dinner party, Meave confronted Joe about these comments, and he put their struggles down to “how they communicate”. They had another argument, and Joe said he didn’t want to join the dinner party at all. Again, Maeve was left on her own.
Their story has divided MAFS viewers. Bailey told Joe on the show he needed to attend the dinner party, to let people see his side of things. But, he said the marriage was done and went home. Maeve broke down, and told the group she felt as though she’d come out of this looking like a “mug”.

Now, cast members have posted in support of Maeve. Davide and Maeve have obviously kept their friendship strong since the show. He said: “Dinner party at the retreat hit different this week, especially for one of my best friends Maeve Mathieson.
“She sat there for weeks trying to figure it out, away from her son and missing her friends and family with no contact. But showed up with grace and humour. The kind of person who walks into a room and instantly makes everyone feel seen, included, and okay again. Always the one cracking jokes when things get tense, reminding us to breathe, and bringing the light back when things got heavy.
“It’s rare to meet people who care as deeply as she does. She made this whole experience brighter. Not just for me, but for everyone lucky enough to be around her. MAFS UK isn’t just about love stories… it’s about connection, growth, and the people who hold you up along the way. And she’s been that person for so many of us.”

In the comments of the post, Nelly added: “We love you Maeve so so much! You deserve so much more than how you were treated.” Nelly also wrote a further touching statement on her story. Sharing a picture of herself with Maeve, she said: “My gorgeous girl, watching this episode was so hard, you never deserved to be treated like that. It is never a reflection of you, you are most certainly not a mug. Just a beautiful human with an open heart who we all adore so so much. You are everything and deserve the absolute world.”
Keye also shared a lengthy statement about his friendship with Maeve. He said: “Watching MAFS UK tonight is honestly breaking my heart, but we cheerlead so let’s talk about the positive.
“Reasons why Maeve is pure magic. She sees people, truly sees them, and makes them feel like they belong. She moves through the world unapologetically herself, and somehow gives everyone else permission to do the same. Her loyalty runs fierce, her heart vast as the ocean. She protects her own like its instinct, fierce, gentle, unshakable. She can summon laughter even in the heaviest moments, light in the dark. Since the day I had the god damn honour of meeting her, my world has been softer, safer, brighter. She’s my safe place. She’s everything.”
