The Lufthansa Group has taken a significant step to strengthen its presence at Munich Airport. By taking over Swissport Losch, an established ground handling service provider, Lufthansa aims to improve the efficiency and punctuality of its flights. This strategic decision was announced in February and is part of the company’s long-term focus to increase its operational efficiency at one of Germany’s most important airports.
With the integration of around 600 Swissport Losch employees into Lufthansa’s structures, a significant part of aircraft handling will in future be carried out independently. This gives Lufthansa greater control over operations and contributes to the stability of flight operations. Despite this takeover, a large part of the handling work remains with Aeroground, a subsidiary of Flughafen München GmbH, which continues to serve a large number of airlines.
