Former NFL superstar Adrian Peterson was arrested in Texas over the weekend on charges of unlawful carrying of a weapon and driving while intoxicated.
Peterson, 40, was picked up in Sugar Land, Texas Sunday morning, according to reports. It marks the second DWI arrest in a year for the 2012 NFL MVP.
TMZ has obtained the mugshot from Peterson’s latest brush with the law, which has reportedly kept him behind bars as of this morning.
“Peterson, wearing a dark colored top, looked completely stoic in the snap and his eyes did appear to have a tinge of red to them,” TMZ said. “There, however, was not much else remarkable about the pic.”
Specific details regarding Peterson’s arrest are not available at this time.
More legal issues for legendary running back
Peterson was originally arrested for suspicion of drunk driving back in April after attending an NFL Draft party for Minnesota Vikings fans. The seven-time Pro Bowler spent the first 10 seasons of his pro career with the Vikings from 2007-16.
Minnesota State Patrol alleged Peterson was driving 83 mph in a 55-mph zone when he was picked up. A preliminary breathalyzer test registered Peterson’s BAC as 0.14, which is above the state’s legal limit of 0.08.
Peterson was less than 10 miles from U.S. Bank Stadium, the Vikings’ home field, when police pulled him over.
A talented, but sometimes troubled career
Without question, Peterson is regarded as one of the greatest running backs to ever play in the NFL. He’s expected to be a surefire Hall of Fame selection once he becomes eligible.
In 15 pro seasons from 2007-21, Peterson was a four-time first-team All-Pro, led the NFL in rushing yards three times and rushing touchdowns twice. His 14,918 career rushing yards rank fifth all-time.
However, for all of his on-field exploits, Peterson had his share of off-field issues. In 2014, he was accused of using a switch to discipline his 4-year-old son, eventually pleading no contest to a charge of reckless assault.
Peterson also had multiple issues regarding alleged failures to pay back loans during his playing days and was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport in 2022 for a domestic violence incident.
