A popular Scottsdale, Arizona eatery was violated in more ways than one this past weekend, when misguided ‘love birds’ engaged in X-rated activity before ravaging a restaurant.
According to local news reports, police responded to Mon Chéri restaurant on Saturday morning after employees noticed a break-in, leading to a review of their security camera footage.
Known for its vibrant interior, the restaurant features colorful walls and upholstery, cute furniture, and lots of flowers. It also has a heart installation, “where our customers take Instagram photos,” owner Lexi Caliskan told People magazine.
The burglars, however, used it as their backdrop to have sexual intercourse, before breaking in to steal some goods.
What Employees Think
“We pulled up the surveillance and we were disturbed,” employee Caitlyn Sorensen told KPHO of footage captured around 4 a.m. “Why would you do that?”
“I think it’s maybe all the roses,” Caliskan joked to FOX 10, of the burglars hanky panky. “They definitely have some romantic time up front on the property and our roses. And Mon Chéri is my dear in French, which is a really endearing term, so you never know.”
What Was Stolen?
Caliskan says in addition to $450 of cash stolen, the robbers took an iPhone designated for the hostess stand and a bottle of Bacardi. She said two doors would “need to be repaired or replaced,” while two cash registers were “torn apart.”
“We are all women and run a women’s celebration spot, and it violated and scared all of us,” she told People. “Overall, we want our streets to be safe!”
It’s unclear if the break-in is under investigation by police.
