GARCHING / LONDON (IT BOLTWISE) – SUSS MicroTec, a leading semiconductor supplier, has lowered its full-year forecast after a disappointing quarter. The unexpectedly weak performance led to an adjustment in profitability expectations. Burdens from a new production site in Taiwan and an unfavorable product mix contributed to the challenges.

Semiconductor supplier SUSS MicroTec has revised down its expectations for the full year after an unexpectedly weak quarter. The Garching-based company announced that profitability is estimated to be weaker due to an unfavorable product and customer mix as well as additional expenses for a new production site in Taiwan. These developments led to a significant decline in the share price.
The SDAX-listed SUSS MicroTec share fell by 16 percent on the Tradegate trading platform on Tuesday before the trading session. Analysts at UBS expect market expectations for operating profit (EBIT) to fall by a double-digit percentage this year. On the other hand, Jefferies expert Janardan Menon also sees a weakening of the outlook for the coming year, as incoming orders in the third quarter were weaker than expected.
The company now expects a gross margin of 35 to 37 percent for 2025, which is two percentage points below previous expectations. The gross margin indicates how much of the sales price remains after deducting production costs. The EBIT margin forecast has also been reduced to 11 to 13 percent, while sales expectations remain unchanged at 470 to 510 million euros.
In the third quarter, the gross margin of 33.1 percent was below the market expectation of 38.1 percent, and the EBIT margin of 10.5 percent missed the expert forecast of 12.5 percent. SUSS MicroTec plans to achieve the reduced margin targets through strict cost management and to advise on measures to sustainably reduce the cost base. The full figures will be published on November 6th.
