ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s cabinet of ministers has approved a proposal to recruit 8,547 workers into 16 ministries, the National Police Commission, and 5 provincial councils, minister Vijitha Herath said.
The Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs is to hire 5,198 people, while the the Ministry of Buddhism, Religious and Cultural Affairs is to hire 1,261.
“There is a shortage of policemen, that’s why the recruitment number is high for the Ministry of Public Security” Herath told reporters.
