The districts of Setúbal, Évora, Beja and Faro will be under orange warning, second most severe leveldue to heavy rain, in addition to thunderstorms and wind, reported the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
These IPMA warnings have been in effect since 03:00 and last until 15:00, justified by “persistent and heavy precipitation, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms and strong gusts”.
In the Algarve, there is the possibility of wave formation with up to four meters high, coming from the southwest.
All other Portuguese districts are on yellow warningthe least serious of the three levels, also due to rain, mostly between 06:00 and midnight.
In the mountainous regions and on the south coast of the Madeira archipelago, along with the rain, strong winds are expected between 09:00 and 18:00 hours, the gusts of which can reach the 100 kilometers per hour.
The orange warning is issued by IPMA whenever there is a “moderate to high risk meteorological situation” and yellow, when there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the meteorological situation.
