LONDON (IT BOLTWISE) – Google is preparing to release a significant update to its Pixel smartphones. This update, known as a Feature Drop, could arrive as early as November 4th and promises a host of new features, including customizable theme packs and improved VIP notifications.

Google has continuously worked on improving its Android platform in recent years, with versions 15 and 16 already considered to be very mature. With regular updates and the so-called Pixel Feature Drops, the company has the opportunity to introduce major changes. A recently leaked document suggests that the next major update for Pixel smartphones could arrive as early as November 4th.
A key element of this update is the new theme packs, which allow users to change the entire look of their smartphone with a single click. In addition to new background images and icons, custom sounds and GIFs should also be part of this feature. This could be particularly interesting for users who would like to reflect current trends on their device.
Additionally, it appears that the Pixel Studio app is getting a new GIF creation feature. Previously, users were able to create still images using AI, but with the new feature drop it will be possible to further develop these images. The VIP feature will also receive a small update by highlighting important messages from favorite contacts.
Although these innovations sound promising, there are also skeptical voices. 9to5Google reports that there are typos in the leaked screenshots and the timing of the update doesn’t quite match the planned releases of Android 16 QPR2. However, it remains to be seen which of the announced functions will actually be implemented.
