New Details Emerge in Adrian Peterson’s Latest DWI Arrest

New details have emerged following NFL star Adrian Peterson’s DWI arrest in the early hours of Sunday morning, shedding more light on the circumstances leading up to his encounter with police.

Peterson Reportedly Found Asleep

According to TMZ Sports, the former Minnesota Vikings running back was allegedly found by officers asleep in the driver’s seat of his car while parked at a gas station in Sugar Land, Texas. Police reported that Peterson was holding his phone at the time, with his car still running. Law enforcement confirmed to the outlet that this was the condition in which they found Peterson.

Weapon Was Allegedly Found in Vehicle

After officers removed Peterson from the vehicle, they found that he displayed indications of intoxication and asked him to perform several field sobriety tests, all of which he reportedly failed. The outlet also reported that officers found a gun in Peterson’s vehicle. Peterson was booked into a jail in Fort Bend County and charged with one count of DWI and one count of unlawful carrying of a weapon. He was later released from custody on Monday afternoon.

Peterson Was Arrested for DWI in April

This is Peterson’s second DWI arrest of 2025. On April 25, he was arrested by the Minnesota Highway Patrol after attending a Vikings draft party. Peterson has previously been accused of child and spousal abuse, as well as a range of financial improprieties.

Peterson retired after the 2021 season, totaling 14,918 rushing yards (the fifth-most in NFL history) and 120 touchdowns in 184 games with seven teams. In 2012, he was voted the NFL’s Most Valuable Player.
