The city of Lisboa recorded today, between 6:00 am and 4:00 pm, a total of 66 occurrences associated with conditions meteorological adverseespecially floods caused by precipitation, which forced traffic to be cut in the Campo Pequeno tunnel.
According to the municipal director of Lisbon Civil ProtectionMargarida Castro Martins, the tunnel Campo Pequeno was closed to traffic at 3:30 p.m. towards Entrecampos – Saldanha, situation that continued at 4:45 p.m.at which time it was planned to cut in the opposite direction, to carry out “unblocking work”.
As for the 66 incidents recorded in the capital as a result of bad weather, the same source from Lisbon Civil Protection indicated that, at the same time,16 were still active and 50 had already been resolved.
By typology, the majority of occurrences are related to floodswith a total of 52 situationsof which 20 in private spacesaccording to data from Civil Protection.
There is also to register six incidents of falling trees, three from structure falls and two from coating fallsas well as three road accidents.
The Lisbon Civil Protection data also indicates the location of occurrences across the city’s 24 parisheswith emphasis on Lumiar (11), Avenidas Novas (10), Belém (6), Arroios (5), Penha de França (5), Santa Clara (5) and São Domingos de Benfica (5).
Like the entire territory of mainland Portugal, the district of Lisbon was today under yellow warning (the least serious on a scale of three) due to the forecast of “rainfall, sometimes heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms”, issued by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
However, IPMA decreed orange warning to the capital between 3:41 pm and 9:00 pm, when the yellow warning will return.
