Zingerman’s recalls candy bars due to undeclared presence of allergens in New York

Zingerman’s Candy Factory in Ann Arbor, Michigan issues an allergy alert for the presence of undeclared peanuts and cashews in candy bars distributed in New York and Michigan, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDAfor its acronym in English).

This is a voluntary recall of Zingerman’s Peanut Butter Crush Full Size Bars Lot #174250 for possible undeclared cashew content, as well as Zingerman’s Ca$hew Cow Full Size Bars Lot #174250 for possible undeclared peanut content.

The reason for the recall began after it was discovered that the Bars withdrawn from the market were because they could have been distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanuts. The origin of the problem was due to a temporary interruption in the production and packaging processes.

How to identify products recalled from the market?

The affected products are Peanut Butter Crush Bars and Cashew Cow Bars from Zingerman’s Candy Manufactory in their 2 oz per bar. Below are the product features:

Affected lot: Lote n.º 174250.

Peanut Butter Crush: Yellow and purple boxes.

Cashew Cow: Light blue and yellow boxes.

People who are allergic or have a severe sensitivity to cashews or peanuts are at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Although no illnesses have been reported to date from consuming chocolate bars, consumers are urged to avoid consuming it if they are allergic or sensitive to nuts. You are encouraged to return them to the point of purchase for a full refund.

Symptoms of allergy to nuts
