EastEnders has confirmed Micah Balfour is leaving the BBC One soap.
The actor, also known for his role as Doctor Bailey in Emmerdale, joined the cast of EastEnders in May 2024 as Junior Knight, the son of George Knight (Colin Salmon).
Junior quickly established himself as a bit of a love rat, as he took pleasure in flirting with Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) and sleeping with Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer), all while being married to a woman called Monique.
Monique and Junior have a son together called Xavier, but Monique took the young lad from Junior when she found out about him being unfaithful.
They moved away from Walford, leaving Junior heartbroken.
Despite his upset, that didn’t stop him from charming other women, but it was George’s ex-wife Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) that caught his eye the most.
Their connection ultimately led to an affair that lasted the majority of 2024. It was exposed at Christmas time, when Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) gifted Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) the USB stick that confirmed Cindy’s betrayal.
He’s faced quite a lot of Albert Square drama but soon, Junior Knight’s time on our screens will come to an end.
It’s said that Micah Balfour has already filmed his final scenes, and will depart later this year.
A spokesperson for the BBC One soap told us: ‘We can confirm Micah will be leaving EastEnders later this year. We wish him all the best for the future.’
As part of new producer Ben Wadey’s shake up to the show, Junior’s sister Anna Knight (Molly Rainford) is also leaving.
Earlier this week, fans wondered if a clue to her departure storyline was dropped in an episode.
As things heated at the Queen Vic pub quiz, as team Beale went head to head with team Peacock, which featured Anna.
She revealed that she was saving money for her impending ‘trip to Oz’, with viewers flooding to X to announce the theory that her exit will see her leave for a new life Down Under.
It has been previously confirmed that Molly will be bowing out of the BBC soap after two years of playing Anna. While the actress herself has yet to comment, BBC released a statement, saying: ‘We can confirm that Molly Rainford will be leaving EastEnders later this year, and we wish her all the best for the future.’
Fans are predicting that Anna’s exit will coincide with that of former boyfriend Freddie Slater (Bobby Brazier), who will also depart this year after four years on the Square.
