The Argentine Central Bank on Wednesday unveiled a commemorative coin to celebrate the 2026 FIFA World Cup, commemorating the famous goal of the late Diego Maradona against England in the 1986 World Cup in Mexico.
The face of the limited edition silver piece shows a football, while the back depicts Maradona’s attack that started from his own half, where he dribbled past five players and scored the “Goal of the Century” in the quarter-finals.
Let’s all shout it again, let it be heard to the heavens.

In the same match, the Argentine legend, owner of shirt No. 10, scored a goal with his hand that remained in memory as the “Hand of God,” before leading his country to win the second title in its history.
The Central Bank explained that 2,500 copies of this commemorative piece, which weighs 27 grams and has a diameter of 40 millimeters, have been issued to be put on the local market, adding that “gold pieces with a similar design have also been minted and will be put up for sale at the international level.”
The presentation of the coin sparked negative reactions on social networks, as the Central Bank’s publication did not mention Maradona’s name.
